Find Any Action
Search, pick and activate any action, anytime. This includes both menu items and shortcuts!
- Press the (configurable!) shortcut
- The Actions Pal appears, right at your mouse
- Type to filter, use arrow keys then enter, or mouse to select
You’ll be amazed at how many amazing actions are already available, just hidden away! Actions Palette is not only an accelerator, but also genuinely great for learning Unity.
Favorite Actions
Using an action often? Just click the “star” ⭐ icon next to it in the Actions Palette list. Then, anytime you’d like to use that action:
- Press the (configurable!) shortcut
- Action Pal appears, with Favorites tab
No more slow hunting around for that same action over and over.
Contextual Actions
Automatically highlights actions that are “special”, eg element editing or other custom actions that are otherwise difficult to find.
ProBuilder Plus shown as an example.
Much More than a List
Trust me … this was supposed to be one weekend! Turns out, you need a lot more to make a good ‘pal:
- Careful filtering of what to show, and when (otherwise, it’s just messy soup)
- Good “fuzzy search” so you can make some typing errors
- Deep connection to Unity’s tooling system for context-aware actions
- A very clever solution to most actions being Shortcuts, which normally can’t be activated this way 😉
- Smart auto-tabs that show the right sets of info
- Fancy pancy UI (ok, not 100% required but I think it really helps)
Replaces the Unity Scene View Context Menu
The scene view context menu (did you know it exists?) is ok, but unfortunately basic and non-configurable. I should know – I drove its design and implementation at Unity (sorry, we did the best with the time we had!).
Action Pal is the full solution – pick exactly what you want, use it as you need.
Overlay Mode Available
Prefer a constant view of available actions? Action Pal has an Overlay for that! It will track and adjust to your selection, tools, etc, always updating and showing the current matching actions.
